Fiat imports Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Overland for testing

Last year, a presentation made to investors, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) revealed that it plans to launch the Jeep brand in India in the year 2015. The presentation also revealed that one of the models that the company planned to introduce in the country was the Wrangler. Now, the Italian carmaker has imported a couple of units of the Wrangler Unlimited Overland for testing.

Both the vehicles are powered by a diesel engine and have four-wheel drive. When the car goes on sale in India, it is also likely to be offered with a petrol unit.

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Overland will be imported as a CBU and will attract maximum import duties. It is expected to slot below the Jeep Cherokee in the company's line-up. Fiat also plans to build an SUV in India, which will rival the Toyota Fortuner. However, the company has not yet disclosed a tentative date for the launch of the Jeep brand in India.
