FINALLY! Honda service intervals change from 6 to 12 months

Honda has finally extended the recommended service interval period of its cars from 6 months to 12 months. For the recently launched WR-V cross hatch, Honda is recommending a service interval of 12 months or 10,000 km (whichever is earlier).

Till now, Honda cars had to go for a service after every 6 months or 10,000 km. This was often criticized by owners, especially those who did not have high running. Customers were forced to get their cars serviced after every 6 months, even if they were nowhere close to the 10,000 km mark. Not doing so resulted in the warranty getting void.

Since the 12 months / 10,000 km interval is more or less the industry standard now, it is a welcome step by Honda to finally extend the same for its new offering. It remains to be seen whether or not the carmaker increases the service intervals of its other models and offers the service period extension to existing customers as well.

With Honda finally waking up from its sleep, it is time for Toyota to extend the ridiculously low service intervals of 6 months / 5,000 km for the Innova and Fortuner.
