Visited KTM Gurgaon today to see the ADV twins.
Both the bike looks absolutely purposeful, sharp and should have very commanding presense on the road!
Well to be honest, I just loved the bikes in the first look itself and will probably go ahead with the ADV x without even test riding it.
The sales person told me that they have around 15 bookings in Gurgaon. Both the bikes present there are slated for delivery in a couple of days.
On road price for ADV x in gurgaon is around 3.4 lakhs and 4.3 for ADV.
Some observations and little comparison with the Himalayan!
- Ktm's weight and side stand's placement along with better weight management than Himalayan is major plus for the people with short height.
- Build quality of adv is great although finishing on some parts could have better, Himalayan is also built solidly but Ktm looks more premium.
-In isolation the seat of Adv is long but essentially the pillion space is not ADV-ish, Himalayan is hands down better for those looking for two-up riding.
-Tail light is pretty small but overall bike looks proportionate from all the angles.
- People might have different opinions on the TFT on KTM and that round TFT on himalayan but the switch gear and side mirrors on KTM are miles ahead than RE(I always feel RE is pretty greedy in this regard, always puts inferior accessories as standard on all their bikes and charges pretty hefty premium on their accesories catalogue which should have been standard from the get go!)
- I personally feel the colour combinations could have been better on the KTM, himalayan is great in this regard!
- For the folks out there looking majorly at touring (specially with pillion) Himalayan makes more sense due to company fitted touring accessories including top rack and panniers as option. Ktm missed a trick here!
