Despite having a bad experience with Air India on an international sector last year and deciding to not fly with them again in near future, an office trip made me take Air India recently. I guess I was among a few lucky ones to have a pleasant flight this time.
It was in the beginning of November when I had to fly Del-Hyd-Del. All flights were very expensive as it was right after the Diwali holidays. It was only the AI that fit the budget as well as the timing. I booked one way and thought of booking the return flight later as my manager told me that I might have to extend my stay.
The onward flight, Del-Hyd, was a new A320. It was an uneventful flight.
Around the same time, some certain news was going around warning people to not to travel by Air India during 1-20 Nov. Hence, I started looking at other airlines for my return. That’s when I realised that Air India is flying a new A350 on Hyd-Del route, which was earlier done by a B777.
Keeping all past experiences and the warning aside, I decided booked this flight for my return. It turned out to be a great experience.
The airline staff were warm and polite. The flight was bright, neat and clean (of course). The seats were broad and comfortable. The food was decent (above average). And lastly, it had a nice infotainment screen!
In this flight, Air India has done away with the staff demonstrating the safety instructions. Instead, it just showed it via a video that was played in every infotainment screen. It was very creative and showed the diverse culture of the country.
Now, I’ll certainly fly AI provided that it operates new aircrafts on the route, especially A350.
Some of the pictures of A350 below.
Infotainment screen: very smooth to operate!
Comfortable seat: I’m 6 feet tall and seat was broad. The leg space was a boon on this flight.
Safety instructions: Played via a video. Hats-off to the creators for such a beautiful video that shows the diversity of India.
