Ford may drop Mahindra engines from future line-up

Projects like the BX744 and BX772 crossovers could be delayed by 6 months.

According to a media report, Ford is likely to drop its plan to use Mahindra-sourced engines in its upcoming products. Instead, the carmaker could rely on its own set of engines.

As you might know, Ford was supposed to offer Mahindra-sourced engines in some of its future products as part of a joint venture. However, the proposed deal was called off late last year.

It has now been reported that Ford's upcoming projects like the BX744 and BX772 crossovers could be delayed by 6 months. The carmaker has asked its vendors to halt work till August 2021, as it finalizes the new powertrains.

The report also states that Ford is re-evaluating alternatives for the CSUV. The refreshed EcoSport will reportedly use Ford's Dragon engine instead of Mahindra's G12 powertrain.
