Ford teases Mustang Shelby GT500, reveals 2020 plan

Earlier this year, Ford had released a teaser video of the Mustang Shelby GT500. Now, the American company has shared a teaser image of the car.

The Mustang Shelby GT500 gets a large hexagonal grille, a new front splitter and twin racing stripes on the bonnet. In the centre of the grille sits the snake emblem finished in chrome. The video released earlier had revealed other details such as 10-spoke blackened alloy wheels with red brake callipers, black quad-exhaust tips, black vents on the bonnet and new rear wing.

Ford has claimed that the Shelby GT500 is the most powerful street-legal car built by the company. It is expected to go on sale in 2019.

Ford also claims that by 2020, 50% of the vehicle sold in US will by SUVs. Hence, it will be diverting US$ 7 billion from its car division to its SUV division.

Additionally, Ford plans to build hybrid variants of the F-150 pick-up truck, Mustang, Explorer, Escape and Bronco. Ford also plans to launch its first battery electric vehicle (BEV) by 2020 and follow it up with 5 more BEVs by 2022.
