Ford's misleading safety-focused commercial

Ford too reacts to the GNCAP results with a commercial showing a real life accident caught on camera.

Earlier this week, GNCAP results of the Maruti S-Presso, Hyundai i10 and Kia Seltos came out. Ford has now released a commercial which showcases a real life accident captured on the dashcam. It has to be noted that the sold-in-India EcoSport has not yet been tested by the GNCAP and the safety rating for the same is not yet known.

The title of the video is “Way above 5 stars” which is misleading. In the ad, the owner talks about the reason for choosing a Ford EcoSport. The owner then met with an accident when a truck jumped the median and crashed in the car. A dashcam grab of the incident shows the oncoming truck. The crash displaces the dashcam which then shows the deployed airbags.

The export-spec EcoSport was tested and secured a 4-star rating. Ford had updated the export car with 300 new parts including some updates for safety.

Two days ago, Tata too launched a campaign mocking the S-Presso's crash result, while highlighting the 4-star rating of the Tata Tiago.
