BHPian Mrs&Mr_Shenu recently shared this with other enthusiasts:
What was initially planned as a short ride within Kochi took a refreshing turn this May. CEE PEE Suzuki Showroom, Kochi curated a scenic and spirited monsoon ride to Munnar Gap Road—a route that’s every rider’s dream during the rains of Monsoon.
Cee Pee Suzuki Kochi is organizing exciting events for bike owners for some time now and this time it was a fully showroom-organized ride. Though initial interest was less, people had registered and other fellow riders slowly started joining in the experience. Few riders were closely involved in the planning and coordination—and I must say, the effort by the dealer was impressive. They went above and beyond in organizing the event. A dedicated WhatsApp group was created, regular updates were shared, and the team followed up diligently.
What stood out really was:
The group assembled early morning at the CEE PEE Suzuki - Bike Zone, Kochi. The energy was palpable as 25 machines lined up—mostly V-Strom 250s, with VStrom 650 & VStrom 800 adding variety. After a quick briefing and vehicle checks, the convoy rolled out towards Munnar.
Busaaa....
One of our Lady rider..
The route chosen was nothing short of spectacular. We moved from Kochi via Muvattupuzha and took a slight deviation in Nedumkandam route and ended up towards GAP road. Though monsoon has not started officially, the rains was all around adding to the aura of nature. So much so that, our drone operating rider was not able to fly it much.
Gap Road, known for its winding curves, misty views, and lush green valleys, was in full monsoon glory. The rain added a layer of thrill and challenge, making the ride even more memorable.
Interestingly, our stay was arranged at a slope which was not far from the site of landslide which happened couple of weeks back. During that time, GAP road traffic was halted for couple of hours.
Hotel staff welcomed us with warm black tea and biscuit (heaven in this atmosphere). Rooms key distributed and we settled in. After that, the VRC clan members (as we call ourselves) gathered in one of the room and started sharing our previous experience. This was more in an informal way and others including wives of some riders. We had a great time in discussion about the overall experience and slowly time crept towards evening.
No fire here.. Not during this rain
A camp fire was planned meticulously, however due to the persistent rain, got cancelled. However, that provided another opportunity as Suzuki dealer staff took the initiative to break the ice between all. It started as a introduction session between ourselves and soon changed to a laughter riot as everyone took their time to bring out their funny side.
Eventually, a small surprise was planned as one of our co-rider's birthday was celebrated and small cake was cut. A small gift was also presented to all ladies who joined the ride. Finally, a special gift to the "Mileage King of the Riders" for achieving a 40+ Kmpl mileage.
Post dinner which was delicious and bulky, we tried to retire to our rooms. But as you may have experienced, it is the night which bring more colour to celebrations. It was also not different here too and the party started with Karaoke songs and followed by solo. Then group ventured to a nearby waterfall in night and took a cold shower. No more to disclose further and let us keep it as "What happens in Munnar, stays in Munnar".
Next day, due to the weather, we cancelled the return via Lakshmi estate as a group and the rain gods were in full fury. We still had some pics to be taken and started from the resort with a heavy tummy after breakfast. Soon the rain was in full force in Gap road and our photographer was finding it tough to keep his camera dry (His snaps were really great and made to Instagram worthy by editing). Thanks to him, we have many memories now etched in Instagram and Facebook.
The return was a split group as some moved towards Lakshmi estate. The majority took the same route back too Kochi.
