Goa: Vehicles parked for 8+ days at same spot to be scrapped

250 abandoned vehicles had already been seized by the authorities in Panaji.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has warned that any vehicle left parked at the same spot on roads for more than 8 days will be considered abandoned and will be scrapped.

“Notices will be sent to the parties concerned, and if the vehicles are not removed within 8 days, action will be taken,” Sawant said. “The original owner will not be able to claim the vehicle thereafter,” he added.

Sawant also promised to take action against roadside garages that leave vehicles parked on the street, hampering traffic movement. He said that 250 abandoned vehicles had already been seized by the authorities in Panaji.

Police have also been cracking down on illegal rental cars in the state. Action has been taken against 550 private vehicles operating illegally as rentals, and reports have been submitted to the transport department for the cancellation of licenses.
