Govt. to file review petition against NGT diesel vehicle ban

According to a media report, the government will be filing a review petition against the National Green Tribunal's (NGT) ban on diesel vehicles that are over 10-years old in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR). The announcement comes in the wake of a recent farmer's protest organized by the Bharatiya Kisan Union in Delhi.

The process of phasing out of around 2 lakh diesel vehicles had commenced in November 2016. In September 2017, the NGT had dismissed a plea filed by the government to modify the ban order, which called for all diesel vehicles that are older than 10-years to be deregistered.

According to the NGT, 1 diesel vehicle pollutes as much as 24 petrol vehicles or 40 CNG-powered vehicles.
