Harley-Davidson Street range recalled for brake issue

According to a media report, Harley-Davidson has issued a global recall of its Street range of bikes to rectify a brake issue. The recalled bikes include the Street 500, Street 750 and the Street Rod. The recall affects the Street models sold in India as well.

A total of 43,908 bikes manufactured between May 2015 and December 2018 have been recalled globally. However, the exact number of bikes affected by this recall in India is unknown.

It has been reported that brake caliper pistons on some Street models are prone to corrosion which may cause the brake pads to drag and get jammed. This is more likely to affect bikes in coastal regions. Harley-Davidson will inspect both the front and the rear brake calipers and will replace them free of cost.

Harley-Davidson sells the Street 750 and Street Rod in India. Both bikes are powered by a 749cc V-twin engine.
