Harman to invest Rs. 350 crore in its Chakan plant

Harman is investing Rs. 350 crore in its automotive electronic manufacturing plant at Chakan near Pune. It also plans to hire 400 workers.

Harman, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. plans to expand the Chakan plant to triple its production capacity by 2021. Four new SMT production lines will be added to the facility, which currently operates two assembly lines.

According to the company, the annual production of Digital Cockpit Units (DCU) and Telematic Control Units (TCU) will be increased from 2 lakh units to 25 lakh units.

Harman supplies car electronic solutions to brands like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen Group and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
