Hero Cycles, Yamaha, Mitsui partner to build electric bicycle

Hero Cycles, Yamaha and Mitsui of Japan have entered into an alliance for technology, manufacture and marketing of Hero electric bicycle powered by Yamaha's electric drive unit.

Hero and Yamaha plan to develop new e-mobility products, while distribution and marketing will be supported by Mitsui & Co. Ltd. The first product to be rolled out by the new alliance is expected to be a high-end E-MTB.

Hero Cycles had recently announced its "Cycle Valley" project with which it aims to bring together suppliers and global bicycle component makers offering an end-to-end supply chain for the bicycle industry.
