Honda Connect - Smartphone app for Jazz, City and CR-V owners

Honda Cars India (HCIL) has launched Honda Connect, a smartphone app for new owners of the Honda Jazz, City and CR-V. The launch of Honda Connect marks the celebration of HCIL's 20th anniversary of incorporation. The company has achieved cumulative sales of more than 1 million units in its tenure.

Honda Connect supports Connected Car features enabled by a connected device integrated with the car. Using smartphones, Honda Connect's features provide access to information about Honda vehicles and other services. The Connected Car features give Honda customers information about their car even when they are not with it.

This connected device, which enables the Connected Car features, has been developed by Minda i-Connect and is being offered at the Honda dealerships. The introductory price for the Connected Device is Rs. 2,999 for the first 20,000 units and it comes with a 1 month free subscription.

The Honda Connect application is available on iOS (iOS 7.0 or above) and Android (Android OS 4.1 or above) platforms for free download from the Apple App Store and Google Play respectively.

Convenience

  • Service Booking / Alerts - This feature enable a Honda owner to get push notifications about his vehicle's maintenance. This includes periodic service alerts, scheduling online service appointments, building a detailed history of each maintenance action taken on the vehicle, including the visit date, dealer name, cost and so on.
  • What’s new and Feedback System - It provides an opportunity to the user to get updates on new products and campaigns being offered by Honda. Additionally, the user can give feedback directly to the company.

Utility

  • Manual SOS feature - In the event that a customer finds himself in an unpleasant situation, his friends and family can know his location with just a click.
  • Pit Stops - It facilitates a nearest Honda dealer search and the nearest fuel station search on a real time basis with navigation assistance anywhere and anytime in the country.
  • Insurance and PUC renewal - It provides reminders about necessities such as car insurance and PUC.
  • Document Wallet - It allows the customer to keep copies of important documents related to his car.
  • Fuel Log - It records information such as when the vehicle is refueled and shows fuel economy figures, based on the fuel filled and odometer reading. 

Safety and Security - Connected Car features (available only after installation of Connected Device)

  • Impact Alert - The sensor inside the Connected Device measures the car's 3D orientation a hundred times in a second and its inbuilt algorithm can detect an impact possibly due to strong jerk, physical knock or collision. The feature generates an assistance call following which, Honda representative will try to get in touch with the customer and then inform their pre-determined emergency contact numbers with the car location so that help can be organized.
  • Locate My Car - This feature enables a customer to locate his car with a single click as the device picks the car's location every few seconds.
  • Trip analysis - This feature provides all the information including route taken, average speed and idling time, so that the customer can optimize his driving behaviour. It will also let the customer know about the stops being made or rash driving.
  • My Car's Health - This feature, in case of technical trouble related to engine and battery, will display the car trouble code along with its description. In case of any Defect Trouble Code (DTC), the customer will also get advice and assistance from Honda's 24X7 customer call center, including the route to the nearest dealer.
  • Share My Location - This feature lets the customer's friends and family know the exact location of the car in realtime. One can create sharing sessions from 15 minutes up to 12 hours.
