Japanese carmaker Honda has announced that it will build and supply parts for old discontinued cars. The first model to receive this support is the iconic NSX sports car.
According to an official translated press release, Honda will begin global supply of "genuine compatible parts" from 2026. To date, the carmaker has been providing genuine repair parts for a certain period after vehicle production has ended. However, things get difficult as the years pass and it gets difficult to supply genuine parts.
With the cooperation of various business partners, Honda has been considering the production of alternative parts for parts that can no longer be produced and supplied. Furthermore, with the advancement of technologies such as re-manufacturing and 3D printing. Honda says it will "adopt parts that meet quality standards in terms of function and performance as "genuine compatible parts" and supply them "globally."
Additionally, Honda will discontinue the NSX Refresh Plan, which it has been offering since 1993.
After the NSX, Honda will expand this service to other sports models as well. These could include cars like the S2000 and CRX and maybe even the compact Beat.
More details on this service and parts supply will be announced in the coming months.
