Honda's Tapukara plant to be inaugurated on February 24, 2014

Honda Cars India Ltd. has announced that its Tapukara facility will be inaugurated on February 24, 2014. The plant will roll out its first car with the commencement of the car manufacturing facility.

Located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, the Tapukara plant is Honda's second in India and is spread over 450 acres. The first phase of this facility was inaugurated in September 2008. The plant will have an annual production capacity of 1,20,000 units and is expected to double Honda's total annual capacity to 2,40,000 units. This will help the company reduce the waiting periods for the delivery of their vehicles.

Honda will manufacture cars based on the Brio platform at this plant. These include the Brio hatchback and the Amaze sedan. The Mobilio MPV, which is expected to be launched later in the year, is also expected to be built at Tapukara.

Honda's first manufacturing unit in India is located at Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, which it set up in 1997.
