Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, Vitpilen 401 spotted in Pune

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 have been spotted testing in Pune. According to a media report, the bikes are expected to be launched in the Indian market sometime in 2020.

Both bikes share their underpinnings with the KTM 390 Duke. They use a steel trellis frame with 43 mm WP upside-down fork suspensions at the front and WP monoshocks at the rear. Both have an identical wheelbase of 1,357 mm, while the seat height is set at 835 mm.

The bikes feature a circular LED headlamp and a single-pod digital instrument cluster. The Vitpilen 401 is a cafe-racer styled bike featuring clip-on handle bars. The Svartpilen 401 is Scrambler type bike featuring raised handle bars for a more upright riding posture and knobbly tyres. It also comes with a tank mount and a rear grab handle. Both bikes ride on wire-spoke wheels.

The Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 are reported to be powered by the 373.2 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine from the KTM 390 Duke. In the KTM, it produces 43 BHP and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via an anti-hopping clutch. The Duke's 320 mm and 230 mm front and rear disc brakes are expected to be carried over as well and ABS is expected to be a part of standard equipment.

The Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 are currently manufactured in Mattighofen, Austria. However, in a joint statement released by Bajaj and KTM in July 2017, it was announced that the bikes will be built at the Bajaj facility at Chakan in the near future.
