Hyundai Ioniq 5 receives over 650 bookings in India

The Ioniq 5 shares its underpinnings with the Kia EV6, which is imported into India via the CBU route.

Hyundai claims to have received over 650 bookings for its Ioniq 5 electric crossover in India. The carmaker had initially planned to deliver 250-300 units in a year but now has over double the bookings.

The Ioniq 5 was launched last month at an introductory price of Rs. 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the second EV from Hyundai, but unlike the Kona Electric, the Ioniq 5 is based on the brand’s E-GMP platform.

The Ioniq 5 is available in a single variant with a 72.6 kWh battery pack. It has an ARAI-certified range of 631 km on a single charge. The car comes with a rear-mounted electric motor that makes 216 BHP and 350 Nm.

The Ioniq 5 shares its underpinnings with the Kia EV6, which is imported into India via the CBU route. As a result, the EV6 costs Rs 59.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
