Hyundai Xcent launched at Rs. 4.66 lakh

Hyundai has launched the Xcent sedan in India at introductory prices starting from Rs. 4.66 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will compete in the fast growing sub 4-metre sedan segment, which is currently dominated by the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and the Honda Amaze.

Except for the boot, the exterior of the Xcent bears resembles the i10 Grand hatchback on which it is based. It is available with a choice of six body colours. The interior too looks like it has been borrowed from the hatchback.

The Xcent is available in 3 variants - Base, S and SX. Hyundai has loaded the higher variants of the car with features like push button start/stop, climate control, rear AC vents, 2-DIN audio system with steering mounted controls, auto-foldable ORVMs, reverse parking assist system and dual airbags. The S and SX can be ordered with an option pack that adds ABS. The Base and S variants ride on 14-inch steel wheels (14-inch alloys optional on S) and the SX gets 14-inch alloys (15-inch alloys optional).

The Xcent is being offered with a choice of two engines which have been carried over from the hatchback. There is a 1197 cc, 16-valve, 4-cylinder, petrol unit, with variable valve timing, which develops 83PS and 11.6 kgm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. A 4-speed automatic gearbox is available on the S(O) and SX(O) variants.

The second engine on offer is a 1120 cc, 3-cylinder, 12 valve, CRDi diesel motor, producing 72PS and 18.4 kgm of torque, which is coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is no automatic transmission on offer.
