Hyundai's new compact SUV spotted testing in India

Hyundai's upcoming compact SUV based on the Carlino Concept has been spotted in India for the first time.

The test mule looks similar to the one spotted in South Korea earlier this month. It has a large trapezoidal grille and a split headlight design with the LED DRLs and the projector headlamps stacked on top of each other. A set of circular fog lamps are placed on the lower bumper, which also houses an air dam and an integrated scuff plate. Moving to the side, the SUV appears to have a similar profile as the Creta. It has silver roof rails and 5-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, the SUV is likely to get a raked windshield, shark fin antenna and a set of wraparound tail lights. Besides, the rear bumpers appears to house a set of fog lamps / reflectors.

There is no word yet about the engines that will be offered on the compact SUV. However, reports suggest that it could get a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre diesel engine option paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Hyundai Carlino-based sub-4 meter SUV is expected to compete with the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza and Ford EcoSport in the Indian market.
