India-bound Ford SUVs to be designed by Pininfarina

According to a media report, the upcoming Ford SUVs that are being developed in collaboration with Mahindra will be designed by Pininfarina. As you may know, Mahindra owns a controlling stake in the Italian design studio.

The Ford C-SUV (codenamed: CX757) will be the first Pininfarina-designed SUV for India. It will share its underpinnings with the next generation Mahindra XUV500 and will compete with the Tata Harrier and the MG Hector in the Indian market.

The C-SUV is expected to be offered with two engine options. These include a 2.2-litre diesel producing 178 BHP and a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine with 187 BHP.

The second model that will be designed by the Italian design studio is another SUV (codenamed: BX745). It will be positioned under the C-SUV and will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos.

The BX745 will share its underpinnings with the Mahindra XUV400 (S204) and will measure around 4.3 meters in length. It could be powered by 1.5-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines.
