India is among the five countries shortlisted by Uber Elevate for its flying cabs service. According to the company, Uber Air has the potential to ease congestion in Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Other finalists include Japan, Australia, Brazil and France.

Uber Elevate - the ride-hailing platform's aerial taxi division made this announcement at the first Uber Elevate Asia Pacific Expo held in Tokyo, Japan. One of the cities from these 5 finalists will be selected for the first international Uber Air City after Dallas and Los Angeles.

To achieve this, the company has partnered with vehicle manufacturers, real estate developers and technology developers among others. Uber Elevate is also in talks with various stake holders across major cities in these countries. The selection will also depend on factors such as market size, local commitment and enabling conditions. The third launch city will be announced within the next 6 months.
