Indonesia: 2nd-gen Toyota Rush unveiled

Images of the second generation Toyota Rush had leaked last week. Toyota has now officially unveiled the 2018 Rush SUV in Indonesia, where it will go on sale in January next year.

Unlike the previous generation, the new Toyota Rush looks more like an MUV. The overall length of the SUV is 4,435 mm and it measures 1,695 mm in width. It has a height of 1,705 mm while the wheelbase is 2,685 mm. The 2018 model has a new front-end design with a four-slat chrome grille flanked by LED headlights with integrated DRLs. The front fascia looks similar the current Honda CR-V. The redesigned front bumper now comes with an integrated scuff plate and black fog lamp housings. The MUV-like proportions of the new Rush are more evident in side profile. The wheel arches are lined with black plastic trim, while the door sills are also wrapped in the same material. It also gets door mouldings finished in black. The rear features a roof spoiler with black extensions on the sides, wraparound LED tail lamps and a dual-tone rear bumper with a silver finished scuff plate.

On the inside, the new Rush gets a dual-tone dashboard with a centrally mounted touchscreen infotainment system. It features a three-spoke, multi-functional steering wheel and a twin-dial instrument cluster with an MID in the centre. It has a seating capacity of 7.

In Indonesia, the Toyota Rush is offered with a new 1,496cc, 4-cylinder, Dual VVT-i petrol engine that produces 103 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 136 Nm of torque @ 4,200 rpm. It is paired with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox. The base G variant comes equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels while the top-spec TRD Sportivo variant is offered with 17-inch alloys.

The TRD Sportivo version comes with features like keyless entry with engine start/stop button, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Miracast and Weblink connectivity options, rear parking camera, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control and hill start assist among others. At present, Toyota has no plans to launch the new Rush in India.
