Installed Blaupunkt damping sheets in my Seltos: Overall change in NVH

The NVH has improved considerably. The quietness in the cabin is top notch.

Hey folks,

After a lot of research (primarily Team BHP threads, YouTube videos and Insta reels), I finally decided to take the plunge and get sound dampening materials installed in my Kia Seltos Gtx+. After the primary digital research, I headed off to the stores ( Accessories wale..) to get a feel and have a candid conversation with the technician/ supplier on what works best.

Why?

Because, stock sound is 2000 (Well 200 was also am amazing year for DIY setups etc..). Jokes included; I wasn't too happy with the NVH ratio of the stock car. I could head conversations happening outside the car at traffic signals. Lol!. Second, the OEM Bose speakers, were not operating to it's true potential. Having experiences a Burmeister setup in my GLC 200 previously (overseas), I wanted to set something close to that feel!

The Shortlist : Material and Man

I physically inspected :

1. Morels
2. Blaupunkt
3. Nakamichi
4. Dr Artex
5. Rainbow
6. Pioneer

I intended to get a double layer (inside door level 2 and outside level 1). So instead of going in for extra thick (2.1mm+) I opted for 2 mm ones. It would be a good trade off for price vs layering.

I zeroed down on Blaupunkt.

Then i shopped around Whitefield area for a few installers based on their availability and expertise of installation. After doign online and offline recon, I went with Car Zone, in Whitefield -Siddapura area. Google Maps

There's a reason why he has 5 star ratng even with 100 reviews ( not a lot, but hard to maintain after a stat sig count).

Mr Ashwini (owner) was patient in explaining the process and was prompt to get the material ordered and the work started promptly. His techician, let's call him 'Ustaad' was in his zone! We was a machine, placing and layering the mats meticolously, and using every cm cut and placing it where needed. Pics or it didn't happen!

The Outcome:

So amazing, so demure, the sounds was just sounding like a wow ! (ok that was cheap)...

The NVH has improved considerably. The quietness in the cabin is top notch. The music sounds full. I had to tune down the equalizer settings, specially the bass and mid. The notes, are crisper and I had a whole list of Sound testing tracks on Spotify, that I sampled. I could hear beats and snares that I usually listen only on my Sony Headphones Sony WH 1000 XM4.

The fidelity reproduction has increased due to dampening.

Ok, I rest my case. Really enjoyed the overall installation process. Both man and material.

PS: I also installed the Thinkware U1000 4K Dash cam front and 2K back. More on that later!
