Jaguar F-Pace to be revealed at the Frankfurt motor show

Jaguar’s first crossover is nearing its launch date and is going through the last phases of testing before entering scale production. Christened the “F-Pace” in January this year, the crossover has been spied on several occasions and according to a report, will be officially revealed at the Frankfurt motor show in September, 2015.

The “sports crossover” features design inspired by the C-X17 concept car – that was unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show in 2013 and showcased at the 2014 Delhi auto expo as well. Jaguar’s global brand director Steven De Ploey has confirmed that while the F-Pace’s Land Rover cousins will have some focus on off-road abilities, Jaguar’s first crossover will be aimed squarely at highway performance. He also stated that the F-Pace and XE are expected to be major volume gainers for the British automaker.

Power-train options though not officially confirmed, are expected to include 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engines and turbo-petrols, along with 3.0-litre V6 and 5.0-litre V8 variants. The 8-speed automatic gearbox may be offered as standard on petrol variants, while the diesel models may have the option of a 6-speed manual. The F-Pace's production will take place at the brand's plant in Solihull, UK.
