Japan: 2023 Honda ZR-V hybrid SUV unveiled

The new Honda ZR-V is said to be based on the same platform as the Civic sedan.

Honda has unveiled the 2023 ZR-V SUV in the Japanese market. The new Honda ZR-V is said to be based on the same platform as the Civic sedan and sits between the HR-V & CR-V offerings in the brand's global line-up.

The 2023 Honda ZR-V comes with an updated design, featuring a new front grille, faux skid plates and a refreshed set of sleek LED headlamps at the front. At the rear, the SUV features body-coloured bumpers, dual exhaust tips, wrap-around LED tail lights and a blacked-out roof-mounted spoiler.

Inside, the new 2023 ZR-V carries forward a cabin layout similar to the latest-gen Civic sedan. The SUV carries forward the same dashboard with the free-standing 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, physical climate controls and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. However, it does feature a few updated bits in terms of the gear lever, upholstery and a few other elements.

Powering the new Honda ZR-V will be two engine options. The first is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol unit, and the second is a larger 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine paired with a hybrid system. Both engines will be paired with an automatic transmission, while an all-wheel-drive system will also be offered as standard.
