Jeep Compass facelift revealed with new engine options

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has unveiled the updated Jeep Compass for international markets.

The new Compass features minor cosmetic updates, which include a slightly revised front grille with chrome inserts and a honeycomb mesh and wraparound headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. The SUV is offered with alloy wheels ranging in size from 16 to 19-inch.

On the inside, the Compass facelift gets soft touch dashboard and door panels. It comes with an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit with UConnect 5. It is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates.

In the international market, the Compass is available with a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing either 128 BHP or 148 BHP. The torque rating of both tunes is 270 Nm. This engine comes with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

A plug-in hybrid version powered by the same 1.3-litre turbo petrol and an electric motor is also available in select markets. It is also available in two states of tune - 187 BHP and 237 BHP. The plug-in hybrid variants come with all-wheel drive only.

The third engine option is a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder diesel that makes 118 BHP and 320 Nm. It comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
