Jeep Compass launched at Rs. 14.95 lakh

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has launched the Jeep Compass in India. It is available in five trim options- Sport, Longitude, Longitude(O), Limited, Limited(O) with prices starting at Rs. 14.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Out of the aforementioned trim levels, Longitude and Longitude(O) are only available with a diesel engine.

Deliveries are said to commence on August 6, 2017 starting with diesel manual transmission variants. Petrol automatic variants will be delivered by Diwali.

The Jeep Compass is designed to look like a compact version of the Grand Cherokee. The familiar 7-slot Jeep grille that sits flush into the front fascia along with the headlamps forms a look now standard across all the Jeep lineup. The squared-off wheel arches give the Compass a rugged look. The rear features a pair of wraparound LED tail lamps and a chunky bumper. The blacked-out A-pillar and the strategic use of chrome bits around the grille slats and the window trim add to the visual appeal.

The interior is finished in dual-tone upholstery except for the Sport variant which comes with an all-black interior. The Compass gets a leather wrapped, multi-functional steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (7.0-inch infotainment screen on Longitude and Limited variants). There's a height adjustable seat for the driver and a 60/40 split seat at the rear.

The new Compass comes with a choice of two engines- a 1,368 cc, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 160 BHP and a torque of 250 NM and a 1,956 cc, turbocharged diesel unit which pumps out 171 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and a peak torque of 350 Nm @ 1,750-2,500 rpm. The engines are mated to a 6-speed manual transmission while an optional 7-speed dual-clutch is available on the petrol version. The 4x4 variant only comes with a diesel engine and in Limited/ Limited(O) trim. The traction management system on the 4x4 model lets the driver choose between four driving modes- Auto, Mud, Sand and Snow.

The Compass comes loaded with features like remote keyless entry and push-button start (only Longitude and Limited variant), electronic parking brake, traction control, stability control, ABS with EBD, electronic rollover mitigation, hill start assist, driver and passenger airbags, side and curtain airbags (only available on Limited 4x4 variant).
