Jeep helps villagers vote

With the general elections underway, Jeep India set out to assist voters in remote areas of India to get to their nearest polling stations. 

Tough terrain, extreme temperatures and the lack of transportation are said to affect voter turnout. In remote villages, old people and young mothers with infants have to walk for long distances to reach polling booths. Jeep identified a few villages whose inhabitants were facing such issues and arranged vehicles to ferry residents to their closest polling booths. 

The company has released a video that shows a convoy of Compass SUVs ferrying villagers to the polling station. According to Jeep, the cars covered more the 800 km over rough terrain and involved 11 hours of non-stop driving.
