Jeep India launches 'Mission One Earth' CSR initiative

Jeep has installed digital-enabled reverse vending machines at key tourist locations in the region.

Jeep India has announced a new CSR initiative called 'Mission One Earth' to encourage customers to enjoy adventures responsibly.

As part of this initiative, Jeep India gathered customers and the local community of the Ladakh region to collect 1,500 kg of plastic waste from the roads. Customers drove in 20 Jeep SUVs from Shimla to Srinagar via Leh - a distance of over 2,000 km. More than 300 locals participated in this initiative.

The carmaker also placed specially designed and digitally-enabled reverse vending machines at key locations along the high altitude passes in the Himalayas. The collected plastic waste will be recycled into Jeep merchandise.

Tourists who use the reverse vending machines will receive a coupon that can be redeemed for environment-friendly Jeep merchandise that will be sent to the individuals directly by Jeep India. The reverse vending machines will continue to remain at these tourist locations and will be monitored and maintained by Jeep India for a year.
