Jeep to launch Jimny rival in 2022

According to a media report, Jeep could launch an ultra compact utility vehicle to rival the Suzuki Jimny in 2022.

The SUV is expected to measure around 4 meters in length. The report suggests that it could offer everyday practicality as well as Jeep's off-road capability with the possibility of an electric motor driving the rear wheels. The vehicle could be based on a modified version of PSA's Common Modular Platform architecture and could come with hybrid as well as all-electric variants. The platform underpins electric versions of the Peugeot 208, Vauxhall Corsa and DS3 Crossback. The SUV will reportedly sit below the Renegade in the company's line-up.

In October 2019, FCA and PSA announced a merger to share vehicle platforms, powertrains and technology.
