Jehan Daruvala wins Barcelona F3 race

Jehan Daruvala won Race 2 of the Formula 3 Championship that was held at Barcelona last weekend. It was also the first time that the Indian national anthem was played in the Formula category.

Daruvala, who races for Team Prema started from second place on the grid and took the lead of the race at the start. He had a comfortable lead of 1.5 seconds over second placed Niko Kari, who started in pole position, before the safety car was deployed for the second time in the race. The Indian racer lost a few second after the restart but was still able to maintain the lead and won the race 2.1 seconds ahead of Juri Vips.

The Formula 3 Championship was launched this year as a feeder series to Formula 2 and Formula 1 and includes 2 races per weekend. The series was created by merging the F3 European Championship and GP3 Championship. A total of 10 teams take part in F3. Each team has 3 drivers.
