Kawasaki to turn India into an export hub

According to a media report, Kawasaki is planning to turn India into an export hub to cater to markets in Africa and Latin America. The bike maker could also launch lower capacity bikes developed specifically for India.

Kawasaki is aiming to increase the annual output from its production facility in Maharashtra to about 10,000 units. The company also plans to localize more parts to make its products more competitive. The bike maker is evaluating models with an engine capacity of around 200 cc, which could be developed in India.

Expansion of the local dealer network is also on its agenda. Kawasaki aims to increase the number dealerships to 30 by the end of 2020 and hopes to sell around 5,000 bikes per year by that time.
