Kawasaki & Yamaha to jointly develop hydrogen-powered engines

Reports also suggest that Suzuki and Honda might also enter the partnership sometime in the future.

Yamaha & Kawasaki are reported to have partnered together to develop hydrogen-powered engines for two-wheelers.

The partnership between the two Japanese brands is part of a larger collaboration between Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Toyota Motor Corporation, Mazda Motor Corporation, Yamaha Motor Corporation & Subaru Corporation to achieve carbon neutrality. The hydrogen engines to be developed by Kawasaki & Yamaha will be an alternative to electric powertrains, supporting both brands' goal of creating zero-emission vehicles.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries has been developing hydrogen as an energy source for use in technologies of production, transportation and even powering an entire supply chain since 2010. Yamaha, on the other hand, will develop hydrogen-powered engines for possible use in its future two-wheeler models.

Reports also suggest that Suzuki and Honda might also enter the partnership sometime in the future.
