Just days after revealing the production version of the full-size EV9 SUV, Kia has now unveiled its EV5 Concept.
The new Kia EV5 Concept is a smaller, more compact all-electric SUV with styling similar to its larger EV9 sibling. The EV5 concept was unveiled as part of the Chinese EV day event and is scheduled to launch in the Chinese market sometime later this year.
Kia hasn't revealed any specifics about the EV5, although reports do suggest it will be underpinned by the E-GMP platform similar to the EV6 and EV9 models from the South Korean carmaker. While the dimensions of the SUV are also under wraps, the Kia EV5 is said to be roughly the same size as the brand's Sportage SUV sold globally.
In terms of styling, the Kia EV5 comes with a boxy yet minimalistic design, similar to that seen on the EV9 concept. The EV5 also comes with rear-hinged doors due to the absence of a B-pillar. The car also gets 21-inch wheels with an asymmetrical design. Inside, the EV5 comes with 90-degree swivel seats, a panoramic sunroof, a pop-up wooden table in the boot, a large display integrating the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment system on the dashboard, and a futuristic steering wheel.
