Kia is gearing up to launch a 7-seater model in the Indian market. The new model codenamed 'KY' will be unveiled on December 16, 2021.
The Kia KY could be called 'Carens' in India and is expected to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6. The model is likely to be launched in the market early next year.
The KY is expected to be based on the same SP2 platform as the Seltos and Hyundai Creta. It is likely to be offered with 3 rows of seats in either a 6 or 7-seat layout.
The Kia KY is expected to be offered with the familiar 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. In the Seltos, the 1.5-litre petrol engine puts out 113 BHP and 144 Nm, while the 1.5-litre diesel makes 113 BHP and 250 Nm. While the petrol engine comes paired with either a 6-speed manual or CVT, the diesel gets a 6-speed manual transmission only.
