Kia Soul trademark filed in India

The Kia Soul comes with a range of petrol engines as well as an all-electric powertrain.

Kia has filed a trademark application for the 'Kia Soul' name in India.

The Kia Soul is a 5-door hatchback that features a tallboy design. It was part of Kia's 2020 Auto Expo line-up. The front fascia is dominated by a large trapezoidal grille that is flanked by stacked headlamp clusters. Inside, the car comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless charging, ambient lighting and a head-up display; among other features.

In the international market, the Soul is offered with three petrol engine options. These include a 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that puts out 121 BHP and 150 Nm that's paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. There's also a 1.6-litre turbocharged unit producing 198 BHP and a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated motor with 145 BHP. While the former is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the latter comes with either a 6-speed manual or CVT.

Kia also offers an all-electric version called the Soul EV. This car comes with a 198 BHP electric motor that is powered by a 64 kWh battery pack. It has a claimed maximum range of 452 km on a single charge (WLTP cycle).
