Kia unveils the Seltos SUV in India

Kia has unveiled the Seltos SUV in India. It is the brand's first product for the Indian market.

The Kia Seltos features a tiger nose grille with a chrome frame, which is flanked by LED headlights. The daytime running lights are integrated into the main headlamp clusters, while the dual-tone front bumper houses a set of fog lamps. At the rear, the Seltos gets wraparound tail lamps with a chrome garnish in between and bumper with silver fake vents and a skid plate. The Seltos will be available in eight single colour options and five dual-tone options.

The Seltos is equipped with Kia's connected car technology called UVO Connect. It has 37 features including navigation, safety and security, vehicle management, remote control and convenience. It comes with voice commands, vehicle tracking and immobilization, auto collision notification, SOS-emergency assistance, remote engine start/stop, remotely operated air purifier and in-car air quality monitor, geo fence, time fence, speed alert, valet and idle alerts.

Kia claims that 73% of the Seltos is made from high strength steel. It comes equipped with 6 airbags, ABS with brake assist, ESC, Hill Start Assist Control, Vehicle Stability Management and traction control. The SUV also comes with 360-degree camera with Blind View Monitor as well as front and rear parking sensors.

In India, the Seltos is expected to be offered with a range of BS-VI compliant petrol, turbo petrol and diesel engines. Transmission options could include a 6-speed manual, a CVT, a 6-speed automatic and a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. It will also have three driving modes - Normal, Eco and Sport. It also comes with three terrain modes - mud, wet and sand.

Kia has set up 265 touch points across 160 cities in India. The company is yet to announce the launch date for the Seltos.
