KTM testing a new model; could be the 890 SMT

The new KTM motorcycle is expected to be lighter than the 890 Adventure and also handle better.

Spy shots of a new KTM motorcycle have surfaced online. The bike undergoing road testing is said to be based on the KTM 890 Adventure and could be called the 890 SMT.

The new KTM motorcycle is using the 890 Adventure’s chassis, subframe, and headlight unit. However, the fuel tank and body panels are new. The bike is also fitted with 17-in alloy wheels. The brakes and suspensions are said to be taken from the 890 Duke.

With these changes, the new KTM motorcycle is expected to be lighter than the 890 Adventure and also handle better. As for the electronic rider aids, the new bike would have cornering ABS, bi-directional quick shifter, cruise control, wheelie control, and lean-sensitive traction control.

The new KTM motorcycle is expected to have the same engine that powers the 890 Adventure. It makes 103 BHP and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
