The Toyota Supra has been one of the most popular sports cars with enthusiasts worldwide. While the current-gen GR Supra is nearing the end of its seven-year production run, Toyota has already confirmed that a new version is in the works. However, an interesting piece of news coming in from Japan is that the new Supra could have a Lexus twin.
According to Japanese media outlet BestCar, the Lexus version could replace the discontinued RC and the current LC models. While the new GR Supra will be a two-seater, the Lexus model will be a 2+2 to differentiate between the two. A convertible version is also a possibility. Also, the Lexus could feature more luxury on the interior.
Both the models are expected to be powered by Toyota’s new 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a self-charging hybrid system. Power will be sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed or 10-speed automatic transmission. It will also use a high-strength, lightweight carbon propeller shaft.
The new Supra is expected to make its debut in 2026 or 2027. The Lexus version could follow soon after.
