Lexus NX300h unveiled in India

Lexus has added another model to its portfolio in India. The Lexus NX300h is the company's fourth model and the third SUV that has been unveiled in India. It will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU). Two variants of the new SUV are on offer – Luxury and F-Sport.

The overall length of compact SUV is 4,640 mm and it measures 2,130 mm in width and 1,645 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2,660 mm and it has 475 litres of boot space. Fuel tank capacity is 56 litres. 

The NX300h recently received a facelift and was showcased at the 2017 Shanghai auto show. As part of the update, the NX300h gets a large spindle grille in the front with LED headlamps on either side and LED fog lamps with cornering lamps below. It also comes with LED DRL strips that are positioned under the main headlamp cluster. The grille on the base Luxury version gets horizontal slats finished in silver. The coupe-like roofline is evident when viewed from the side. The rear end features arrow-shaped wraparound tail lights and a roof spoiler.

The NX300h comes with dual-tone leather interiors. The F-Sport variant gets black and cream upholstery and a black headliner, while the Luxury trim comes with maroon leather seats and door trims with a beige coloured headliner. The centre console houses a 10.3-inch infotainment system with integrated navigation and an analogue clock. The infotainment system can be operated via a touchpad positioned next to the gear lever. Besides this, it gets a three-spoke, multi-functional steering wheel and a twin-pod gauge cluster. The engine start / stop button has been placed just next to the instrument cluster. 

Both variants use the same 2,494cc, 4-cylinder petrol engine which produces 194 BHP @ 5,700 rpm and 210 Nm of torque @ 4,200-4,400 rpm. The engine is paired with an electric motor, which is mounted on the rear axle. Lexus claims the fuel efficiency of the hybrid system to be 18.18 km/l. The NX300h uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Drivers can choose from 5 driving modes – Eco, Normal, Sport, Sport+ and Custom. At low speeds, the car runs only on electric mode. 

The NX300h is offered with features like dual-zone climate control, 8-way adjustable memory seats, adaptive suspension, idling start/stop, cruise control and rain sensing wipers among others. It comes equipped with 8 airbags, vehicle stability control (VSC), ABS, hill start assist, traction control and rear view camera with park assist.
