Lifetime road tax hiked by up to 4% in Telangana

A second vehicle purchased in the name of the owner will be charged an additional 2% tax.

The state government of Telangana has introduced new lifetime road tax slabs. As per the revised tax structure, customers will have to pay anywhere between 1% to 4% more while purchasing a vehicle.

Road tax for vehicles with an ex-showroom price of under Rs 5 lakh has been increased from 12% to 13%, while those costing between Rs. 5-10 lakh will be levied with 14% tax.

The lifetime road tax for vehicles that cost between Rs 10-20 lakh has gone up from 14% to 17%. Vehicles that cost over Rs 20 lakh will be charged 18%. A second vehicle purchased in the name of the owner will be charged an additional 2% tax.

The lifetime road tax for motorcycles and scooters costing less than Rs 50,000 has been set at 9%. For vehicles which cost above Rs 50,000 - 12% tax will be charged.
