The Transport Department of Maharashtra has set a deadline for installing High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on vehicles registered before 2019. As per an internal note issued on December 4, all vehicles must be fitted with HSRPs by March 31, 2025.
According to media reports, the Transport Commissioner’s Office has appointed three agencies to manage the installation of new HSRPs across the state. These include Rosmerta Safety Systems Ltd, Real Mazon India Ltd and FTA HSRP Solutions Pvt Ltd.
The installation cost for HSRPs has been set at Rs 450 for 2-wheelers, Rs 500 for 3-wheelers and Rs 745 for 4-wheelers, which include cars, trucks and buses. These prices are excluding GST.
HSRPs were introduced in 2019 to reduce vehicle thefts and streamline RTO system access. The plates are manufactured from an aluminium alloy and feature a retro-reflective film with an ‘India’ inscription, a hologram and a unique laser-embossed number - making them tamper-proof.
