Mahindra launches Automobili Pininfarina EV brand

Mahindra has announced the launch of Automobili Pininfarina - a luxury electric vehicle (EV) brand. The new company will be based in Europe and will design, engineer and manufacture high-performance, luxury EVs. The brand's first electric hypercar is scheduled to debut in 2020.

Michael Perschke - the former head of Audi India, will head Automobili Pininfarina. He has also been a member of the Management Board of Volkswagen Group Sales India from 2010-2013. While commenting on the launch, Pershcke said that the new brand would combine Pininfarina's design experience with technologies developed by the Mahindra Formula E racing team.

Per Svantesson has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer. He has previously worked with the Volvo Group and NEVS.

Mahindra acquired Pininfarina back in December 2015. Recently, it was reported that Mahindra was planning to launch a new EV subsidiary in Europe.
