Mahindra P601 small commercial vehicle to be named Jeeto

Mahindra has announced that it will name its upcoming small commercial vehicle "Jeeto". Test mules of this vehicle, which has been codenamed P601, have been spotted on numerous occasions.

The Jeeto is expected to be used for last mile distribution of goods. Previous spy shots indicate that the Jeeto will get 12-inch wheels and dumbbell shaped headlights with integrated indicators. It carries its spare wheel on the right side, below the loading bay, while the battery is located on the left.

While Mahindra has announced that it will introduce a new direct injection "m_Dura" diesel engine on the vehicle, it has not disclosed any specifications.

The Jeeto will be manufactured at Mahindra’s extended automotive manufacturing facility at Zaheerabad in Telengana. This facility was inaugurated in April 2015. It has been set-up at an investment of approximately Rs. 250 crore and an installed capacity of 92,000 new vehicles per annum, which can be scaled up further to meet additional demand. This is in addition to the production capacity of 75,000 vehicles per annum from the existing automotive manufacturing plant in Zaheerabad, which his currently manufacturing utility vehicles, light commercial vehicles and 3-wheelers.
