Mahindra Reva e2o now priced at Rs. 4.79 lakh in Delhi

Earlier this week, we had reported that Mahindra Reva has reduced the price of the e2o electric car in India thanks to the Government's FAME scheme (click here to read report). Further to the development, the company has announced that the car is available at a price of Rs. 4.79 lakh (on-road, Delhi), in addition to a fixed energy fee of Rs 2,999 per month for 5 years or 50,000 km.

With the FAME Scheme (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) Scheme, the government hopes to tackle issues such as growing vehicular pollution. Under the aegis of the FAME Scheme, there will be special focus on investments in R&D, incentives for demand creation, setting up of charging infrastructures and rolling out of Electric Vehicle pilot projects.

An upsurge in publicly available charging ports is expected besides the existing ports that have been set-up by the company. A normal charge port can also be installed at home in addition to charging points available across the country. Mahindra Reva has installed more than 300 charge ports across the country till date.

Mahindra Reva hopes that with the reduction in prices and expected growth in the number of charge points, more customers will be drawn towards electric cars, which will result in better sales of the e2o.
