Mahindra to revive Peugeot Motorcycles

In 2015, Mahindra had acquired 51% stake in Peugeot Motorcycles. The company has now announced its plans to revive the French brand after an absence of 70 years.

Peugeot Motorcycles recently showcased two concept bikes called the P2x Roadster and P2x Cafe Racer at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. The company plans to introduce models based on these concepts with 125cc and 300cc engines. There are plans to launch three electric 2-wheelers in the next 3 years. Apart from this, Peugeot is expected to launch 7 new models across various segments including premium scooters, electric scooters and motorcycles.

The company is planning to invest Rs. 400 crore to achieve these goals and is expecting to breakeven by 2020. While Europe will be its main market, Peugeot is also betting on the South East Asian markets. It is currently looking for a local partner to setup an assembly plant in Thailand.
