Mahindra Scorpio facelift with 140 BHP/320 Nm tune launched

The Mahindra Scorpio facelift has been launched with prices starting at Rs. 9.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated Scorpio is available in 4 variants – S3, S5, S7 and S11. It comes with a choice of two diesel engines with three power outputs and in 7,8 or 9 seat configurations.

Mahindra has given the Scorpio few cosmetic updates. The dual-tone front grille features a 7-slat design that’s similar to the Imperio. The headlights feature minor changes such as the clear lens indicators. The front bumper gets an integrated scuff plate and chrome trim around the fog lamps.

This version gets a new set of ORVMs with integrated turn signals and it rides on 17-inch, 5-spoke alloy wheels finished in silver. Like the outgoing model, the new Scorpio comes with a plastic side cladding, roof rails, LED tail lights and a rear spoiler. The tail gate has been redesigned, which now features a chrome number plate garnish.

Inside, the Scorpio facelift carries over the same dashboard layout. It is finished in a dual-tone black and grey with silver trim on the glove box, steering wheel and gear lever. The centre console houses the automatic climate control (S11 variant) and 6-inch touchscreen infotainment system that has integrated GPS navigation, Bluetooth and Aux-in. The twin-pod instrument cluster has been carried over from the outgoing model.

Now, the base S3 variant comes with a 2,523cc, 4-cylinder m2DICR diesel engine which produces 75 BHP @ 3,200 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @ 1,400-2,200 rpm. The S5 and S7 variants are offered with a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine producing 120 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 280 Nm @ 1,800-2,800 rpm. The top-end S11 variant gets the revised 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine that churns out 140 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 320 Nm @ 1,500-2,800 rpm. This engine is also offered on the S7 trim. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard, but the 140 BHP engine comes paired with a new 6-speed manual gearbox. Four-wheel drive is only available as an option on the S11 variant.

Safety features like ABS and driver and passenger side airbags are available on the top 3 variants. Additionally, features like cruise control, rear parking camera and parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, rain and light sensors, voice assist and alloy wheels are only available on the S11 trim. Micro Hybrid Technology though is standard across the range.
