Mahindra Thar 4x2 variant details leaked ahead of launch

The Thar 2WD will be available in two variants: Diesel MT and Petrol AT, with a hardtop offered as standard.

Mahindra is likely to launch the entry-level 2WD version of the Thar this month and the variant details have already leaked online.

As per the leaked data, the Thar 2WD will be available in two variants: Diesel MT and Petrol AT, with a hardtop offered as standard. The SUV will come equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, electric ORVMs, fog lamps, black bumpers and moulded footsteps on the outside.

Inside, the Thar 4x2 range will get features like a touchscreen infotainment system with roof-mounted speakers, cruise control and ESP.

The Thar 4x2 will be offered with two engine options. These include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol unit producing 150 BHP and 320 Nm, which will be mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 1.5-litre diesel producing 117 BHP and 300 Nm. The latter will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Mahindra will offer the Thar 4x2 in two new colour options: Everest White and Blazing Bronze.
