Mahindra Thar 5-door test mule shows off new details

The Thar 5-door will be offered with the same engine options as the 3-door version.

A test mule of the Mahindra Thar 5-door has been spotted testing once again, revealing a couple of new details.

The most obvious difference between the regular Thar and the 5-door is the longer wheelbase. The SUV has flared wheel arches just like the 3-door Thar. That being said, the 5-spoke alloy wheels look different. The test car also has neatly integrated side steps and a rear-mounted spare wheel.

The interior of the Thar 5-door is likely to be similar to the 3-door version. The SUV is expected to get a centrally-mounted touchscreen infotainment system, among other features. A grab handle has also been provided on the A-pillar.

The Thar 5-door will be offered with the same engine options as the 3-door version. These include a 2.2-litre diesel producing 130 BHP and 300 Nm and a 2.0-litre petrol that makes 150 BHP and 300-320 Nm. Both engines are likely to be offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.
